About the Transportation Data and Information Hub
To support an efficient and modern transportation network, Transport Canada, in partnership with Statistics Canada, has launched and operates the Transportation Data and Information Hub (TDIH). The goal of this site is to collect and share new data, performance indicators, analysis, and research on transportation in Canada with Canadians.
On the TDIH, you will find data tables relating to the major modes of transportation (rail, road, marine, and air), tools to explore data like interactive web maps and dashboards, reports and analysis providing context to trade and transportation data, and curated data sources from partners across the transportation sector. You can search for transportation information sorted by mode, by product type, or by using filters on the general search page.
The TDIH's mission is to serve Canadians by increasing access to authoritative data to support policymakers, industry decision makers, and transportation users as they make decisions to make the transportation network safer, cleaner, and more efficient. As announced in the federal Budget 2017, the TDIH serves as an authoritative source of information on multi-modal transportation and performance measures, supporting data-driven innovation from both government and industry.
The TDIH supports a Vision of a safe, secure, green, innovative and integrated transportation system that supports trade and economic growth, a cleaner environment and the well-being of Canadians. Presentation and content data is managed via a Sovereign Drupal portal which includes CSV data auto-conversions to GC Data Tables, and a comprehensive Search interface. Beyond compliance, Drupal brings GC Digital Standards including the site architecture, taxonomies and classifications. The site uses several API WebServices throughout.
